CRIMINAL LAW

You are entitled to discovery in every criminal case.  This
includes copies of the police reports and list of witnesses.

You only have the right to a public defender if, besides meeting
the income requirements, the State is seeking a jail sentence upon
conviction.

You alone have the right to decide whether a judge or jury hears
your case at trial.

In some instances, you can have your attorney's fees taken out of
your bond money.

There are certain instances where the State can enhance or
extend the possible sentence upon conviction.  Some examples
are third felony conviction, multiple convictions for certain
offenses, conviction while on probation or parole.
